Registration is available for newbuilds and for vessels transferring from another registry, subject to technical, safety and documentation requirements.

Application forms and the documents required for each type of registration are provided on request. Submit the completed form together with the supporting documents for the vessel and the applicant.

Flagging — Abanderamiento

Flagging follows registration and inspection. It assigns the national flag and the rights and obligations that come with it, and the resulting certificate carries a verification code.

How to apply

The application forms and the documents required for the issuance of seafarer certification and endorsements are provided on request. Requirements for renewal or revalidation may differ from those for first-time issuance.

Scope of inspection

Inspections are carried out by the administration’s surveyors or by approved Flag State inspectors. They cover verification of statutory documentation and a general examination of the vessel’s structure, machinery and equipment, together with inspection and operational testing of firefighting equipment, lifesaving appliances and safety equipment.

Support for owners and managers

Owners and managers are assisted in addressing inspection findings, including in the event of a Port State Control detention.
